Day of the Dead Blog Tour Day 2

Hi! I am sipping my coffee with Abuelita while I write this post. (edited: Abuelita is a brand of mexican hot chocolate that is kind of a staple in any Mexican home. AND Coffeemate has a coffee creamer of it now, not as good as the real stuff, but it works.) If you have never had it before, give it a try. It combines the unique flavors of cinnamon and chocolate, a favorite in most Mexican homes.

Welcome back to Day 2 of the tour. Did you get a chance to see what Felt With Love Designs made for the tour yesterday? It was pretty awesome! A great project to do with your kids and maybe introduce talking about those we want to remember.

Death is such a taboo subject, and some, especially in this country, seem to have a very hard time with that. We all mourn those we love when they are gone, but something about the way other cultures teach you to both honor and celebrate the dead makes death seem more about the person than us. And with that thought, here is a fact about Dia de los Muertos to leave you with:

Dia de los Muertos takes place over 2 days. The first day, November 1st is to honor children and infants, also known as Dia de los Inocentes (Day of the Innocents) and November 2nd is to honor the adults.

Today we have Stacey from From a Box with this gorgeous creation (using one of my favorite Alexander Henry fabrics):

Stacey blogs about her sewing creations and family adventures from her house that looks like a box in the Pacific Northwest… hence the blog is titled From a Box.  Her Day of the Dead Celebration includes a festive apron, awesome makeup, and yellow pom-poms representing the traditional marigolds in a peaceful setting for the photo shoot.  For the day to honor those that have passed, see what Stacey and her daughter put together Click the picture to go the post or HERE

Then we have Karly from Paisley Roots who started a project, knitting a sweater, but the finish had to delay due to the passing of a family member. She shares her story of how she honors her deceased loved ones, and it truly is a special story. Click the picture to go to her post or HERE

Of course, while you check the other bloggers posts, don’t forget to enter the giveaway and leave some love on their blog for an extra entry everyday.
