Carefree in Cobalt

Now that January is almost over. Already, really? Seriously, there is a week left in the month. Hogwash. I tell you. Remember when time felt like it was standing still as a kid because we needed constant attention and reminders that we were just children. Then adulthood hits, and suddenly we are traveling through years as if we are in outer space. Time, please just take a chill pill so we can have some time to enjoy you.

I had the opportunity to test the new Carefree Cardigan pattern from Patterns for Pirates. It had to be tweaked a bit during the process, which resulted in a fabulous end result. It has 3 sleeve options: short, 3/4 and long. It’s a drape front cardigan that can be worn loose or with a belt. You could even make it sleeveless. There is also a banded version which is fun for contrasting details.

I was chosen to do the short sleeve belted version. My first version was a buffalo plaid fleece with black contrasting fleece. It was really cute and comfortable, but that was before it was perfected.

I love how it sits, and I love that it feels very pulled together, but is almost loungewear. That is always a score for us mommies, right. Judy’s instructions are easy to understand, and the cardigan goes together very quickly. Once I can go find some pretty fleeces, and maybe even a nice sweatshirt fleece, I will be making tons more. Today is the last day to get it as a new release sale price. You can buy it on Etsy or Craftsy for $6 until Sunday, January 25th. Then it goes up to the regular price of $8. don’t forget to join the Pattern for Pirates facebook group to hear about sales, new patterns and some exciting add-ons and revisions coming up.

Last thing: I am getting a bit chilly in my area of California, so I added on the remaining length with some faux leather heart patches to make it a long sleeve. It feels very rebellious in honor of Valentine’s Day coming up!
