I am finally back on my blog, and with something exciting for both me and my little girl. It is the Otium sweater from Sofiljantes. I was supposed to blog this earlier in the week, but had a long, scary hospital stay for my little bit who is in the photos. She has chronic asthma and was hospitalized due to low oxygen and pneumonia. She was finally able to come home Friday evening after being in there since Saturday. So the mommy duties kept me from fulfilling my blog post and kept my house trashed while I entrusted the remaining children with their Grandpa. That is always fun, right! So I spent time cuddling my Goldie and being thankful for everyone caring for her. I also had to get the house back in order and cook some stuff for Superbowl today since the man is a big Patriot’s fan! Sheez, this domestic goddess stuff is kind of a lot to deal with when you have a whole lot is crap going on. So back to normal life, sort of, and now I get to cuddle her at home for an extra week to make sure all the nasty germs are gone.
So back to the fun stuff! I love the Otium because it is a simple sweater/tunic pattern that is fitted while still being relaxed. Kind of like yoga pants and maxi skirts. They feel so comfy. I definitely wanted to make a mommy version and a little version. We all have varying personalities, so I made one for her to fit her fun, vibrant personality, and I made mine.
For me, it was a olive green rib knit in long sleeves, tunic length, and I modified it to be a v-neck with a bigger tunic band. If you want this same look, all you have to do it double the height of the band piece.
Now for my ray of sunshine, I made her a short sleeve, bow back version. I used a bright tribal knit and bright orange lace for the bow. I also used the waist to add a drop waist skirt to it so she can wear over skirts (like pictured) or with pants. It really gave it a fun and unique twist which shows how many possibilities this pattern has.
