Blue Ridge Dress Tour

I love when those talented bloggers and sewists create something new and exciting. Hello Holli just released her first pattern, and I was very lucky to be part of her first testing experience. She was great to work with, and made several versions before releasing it for sale. The Blue Ridge Dress pattern is unique, stylish and modest. I know the sewing world is always looking for patterns that are age appropriate for the older girls, yet covered.

It is a sleeveless style dress with bias binding. and a bias detail around the bodice to created a piping like look. It has a curved empire bodice with a full gathered skirt. You can make it in dress length or tunic length. This is perfect for summer, but would be great for layering over tees or with a cardigan in the cooler months.

Pattern details:

Layers to print only size/s you need
Sizes 12m-14 years
Tunic and dress length
French seams and fully enclosed bodice
Bias binding
Bias tape tutorial
For the adventurous beginner, or intermediate sewist
Button loop closure

You can have a lot of fun mixing prints with the pattern. You can use different coordinating or contrasting fabrics for a cool or whimsical look. I knew I wanted some bright color pop for summer.
I had this sample of cotton sateen that I have been hoarding for the perfect project. I decided that it worked perfect with Art Gallery Gleeful “After the Rain” and used a teal baby rib knit for the bindings. I also decided to make it tie in the back instead of a button. The pop of these jewel tones is one of my favorite color combinations. Greens, purples, blues, turquoise. I just love these colors together and it created a bright dress perfect for summer. I also made the size 6 width with the size 8 tunic length with a small hem to create a dress above the knee that can become a tunic when the length gets too short. Doesn’t this dress just make you feel carefree and ready to have some summer fun?
