We are officially in fall which means that it is time for all the favorite clothes: sweaters, hoodies, leggings, jackets, scarves, boots, beanies. Ok, basically anything that will make you resemble someone in the North pole, but your region version. For us women, it also becomes known as the comfort season aka the land of no shaving! Woot woot! Seriously guys, these layers we get are there for comfort. Don’t start with us.
So when EYMM announced a call for their tour of the Zander hoodies (kids sizes) and the His & Hers (adult hoodie) I knew I needed to make my boy a new one for the season because kids growth is on steroids these days. I now understand that growing like a week statement because I have boys in the preteen-teen age. Not. fun. at. all!
In true Melissa fashion, I stared at the pattern for minutes (
hours days) how I could switch it up. The asymmetrical hoodie is an awesome and unique detail, but I wanted to see what other uses I could get. I discussed some ideas with the very uninterested 11 year old on what we likes, doesn’t like and what we came up with was a hoodless Zander. We also made it zipperless while still keeping the asymmetrical detail. I switched up the neck when taking off the hoodie to accent that detail and added a cowl. It is actually a really fast hack and a great way to make a hoodie pull over if you aren’t ready for zippers or just don’t want one. It also makes that bottom band easy as pie to attach!
