I’m so excited to show you my holiday look featuring all 3 of the patterns: Fishtail Kimono, Blue Ridge dress and Abby’s Footed Tights. Oh, and make sure to read all the way to the end for a coupon code!! I had this navy georgette with gold flakes that I built this look upon and I call it Midnight Gold or something like that.
I kept the Kimono the same, with the exception of using bias around the neck and hemmed the bottom. I used french seams for all the seams since this fabric really likes to fray. Perfect for the holidays and casual wear after.
The Blue Ridge dress, I lengthened to size 6 in the tunic length so I could get a vintage length dress. Then I put the bias towards the inside of the bodice and I added a star cutout in the back. I stabilized the star with some interfacing because the last time I did a star cutout, it was floppy. The fabric was a navy blue shantung I found at Walmart. Pretty sure it is polyester since it was a bargain find, but it is beautiful and feels nice.
The final piece was the tights. I had an idea for two toned tights using the Abby’s knee socks combined with the tights. The photo below shows how. I overlap the knee sock (elastic cuff length) with the tights, then I cut a 1/2 in below from that line to create the two pattern pieces. Cut the knee sock in desired fabric (mine was this crazy gold stuff from Hobby Lobby) and the top portion was a white sweater knit. These were both 1 way stretch and I used the 2 way. I should have upsized, but it works for now. It just won’t last very long.
