This is one of my favorite issues because it is such a practical issue. These patterns are all pieces that can be used for multiple seasons and multiple hacks. They are simple and easy. The most involved sews will be the Gentlemen shirt or the Desoto. However, they are pieces well worth the effort that you will want to use in your wardrobe all the time.
The hacks showcase simple solutions to getting more use out of patterns. The wonderful thing about these hacks is that they show you how you can do simple hacks to patterns that will get you much more use.
My favorite article in this issue was talking about those sewing funks. When we lose our creative drive, it can feel like the loss of a life. This captured the feelings and dilemmas so perfectly. I think any creative can relate to the words said here.
When I was going over the patterns in the Issue, I decided to make the Xanadu bodysuit and Jolie Skirt hack, Now, I am already a big fan of the Jolie skirt. My daughters have multiple in their wardrobe. It is such a fun and quick sew that makes you feel like it is more than just a regular skirt. adding the inseam pockets is genius because who doesn’t love more pockets. My daughter is already wanting to put all the rocks in her pockets because Rocks! Duh!
These are simple and fast makes that will get you so much use. The skirt takes me about an hour to cut and sew. The same time for the bodysuit. So 2 hours to make a new outfit? That sounds amazing to me!
